However, you know, that a warrior may be an Ambassador, he would seek out military alliances, and a scribe may seek out trade, safe passage, the negotiation of prisoners of war and settle legal disputes across the cities.

However, warrior are good at making war , not at diplomacy. So long ago, the scribes begain training for the job and we are the ones skill in words not the sword.

I encourage anyone research this on their own. Now this is somewhat controversial, and many will disagree. However, this is SL and sim owners make their own decisions. So any caste may be chosen. Sadly , a lot of people are chosen not by training and skill but Hey buddy come to my new city.

[08:36] Abraham Jacobson (abrahamjacobs2): Please know that a Safe Passage Passport or a Visitor Pass are not BTB, they do not show up on the books. Roleplayers have created these terms to deal with visitors and residents who may or may not become citizens. Many sims just allow a certain period time for new people to be in the city before they must either become a resident or Swear to the Home Stone.
[08:37] Abraham Jacobson (abrahamjacobs2): Before we move forward, remember, the laws of a city protect its citizens but not the visitors or the "residents." The term "resident" is given on a tag, for those who rent. Sometimes we may see tags such as "home owner", they are not necessarily citizens. They must be sworn to the Home Stone before the Ubar or Administrator, or a member of the five High Castes. Citizens have sworn or pledged to the Home Stone. Residents, may live and work there, its really a roleplay term.
[08:37] Abraham Jacobson (abrahamjacobs2): A lot of Gor roleplayers sometimes do not wish to surrender their previous Home Stone. You need to be a citizen in order to have higher roles, such as Ambassador. The law only protects, the citizens. Merchant law may be able to do something for the visitors, and the residents in some cases. It depends on the laws. Even if you were born in Turia, you are going to have to pledge to be an ambassadors.

Goreans did not go from city to city swearing to this Home Stone and that Home Stone all of the time. A Gorean had one Home Stone. This Gorean was southern based, or perhaps from the mountain or the northern regions, where laws where observed by magistrates, and warriors and mercenaries protected the land. We are not going to talk about Torvaldsland, the Nomads, or the Savages in this course.

Goreans are supposed to have one Home Stone but in SL, your sim may close, and you will have to move on somewhere else, and they will need you to swear to their Home Stone. You should do it because you want protection if taken to court, higher roles, and access to all of the privileges of your caste, as well as pay less taxes.

To be an effective ambassador, one must possess several key qualities:

Patience: An ambassador must be patient, especially when negotiating with rival cities or contentious factions. Diplomacy takes time, and many matters require careful, thoughtful discussion to reach a peaceful resolution.

Core values that will be sought for any Blue Caste You must maintain personal integrity, public image, be true to your word, be dependable, this shows others they can count on you. Information bears power as much as it does opportunity. You have to read people, anticipate their actions, and determine their intentions. Be prepared for anything and everything.

Take a walk, get lost, write some notes about businesses, commercial spots, and any establishments that may be touristic interest. Everyone has a schedule and we all have to deal with Real Life outside of SL. I use a tool to know when the person I need is on line. If your on different schedules it helps to know that and maybe go late on the weekends.

Your escort and slave may be wandering the City or the Tavern picking up key information from locals. A female slave can get a lot of information. Slaves chat. I look recently at an IM one of my slaves sent to me on a trip to a city. She had gathered information I needed about key people and when to contact them from other slaves. Look out for Assassins and Outlaws, stay out of way as much as possible.

Such Ambassadors are considered to possess diplomatic immunity and are thus immune from hindrance or harm while they are in a foreign city. Do not be mistaken that you cannot and will not be detained or captured should you be traveling alone Ladies. Please be escorted, make sure to cover up head to toe and behave becoming of a proper and prudent Free Woman. Respect, courtesy and good manners will take you far.

Ladies, MAKE SURE that your FC contracts allow you to travel outside of your city with the approval of your companion. The color is white and gold for merchants. Red for warriors. The color is also called scarlet. Scribes, blue is the color of when you are on duty working in the cylinders and in your offices. Wear your caste colors proudly.

You may be able to have an official of your Home city come negotiate your release. Questions will be asked because the magistrate will want to know if you submitted during the capture, if you broke the laws, if you damaged any slaves, if you committed other assaults.
[09:08] Abraham Jacobson (abrahamjacobs2): As a foreigner, there will be a public hearing. You are not going to get a trial. Trials are for citizens of the Home Stone, that is one privilege. We will cover this during the lecture about Capture Laws and Prisoners of War.
