Summary

The meeting focused primarily on preparations for the upcoming Scribe Summit, September 25–27, 2026. The presentation schedule is filling well, although several remaining slots still need presenters. Trygg plans to verify each presenter's participation and scheduled time over the coming week so that the completed schedule can be announced.

The group discussed what should be included in the Summit's opening ceremony. Suggestions included an introduction by Marcus as the host and a possible blessing by an Initiate. There was disagreement over whether a blessing was appropriate, and the discussion became heated between Aldae and Marcus. Aldae subsequently left the meeting and stated that he would not attend the Scribe Summit. After further discussion, the group decided to forego an opening blessing this year, although the possibility of a closing blessing was mentioned.

Considerable discussion was devoted to the Summit's closing event. Ideas included an OOC dance, an IC banquet, a dance troupe performance, and short performances of songs, poetry, stories, or dances. The emerging plan was to combine several of these ideas: a short program of performances followed by a dance troupe, possibly in conjunction with a banquet. The closing program should remain relatively short, preferably no more than two hours.

Myriam agreed to contact dance troupe connections about performing at the closing event. Sabayna agreed to put out a call for singers, poets, storytellers, dancers, and others who might be interested in contributing a short performance.

Thunder Mountain will arrange access for SCoG members for the September 16 meeting and during the Summit, September 25–27. Marcus also agreed that temporary rezzing rights could be arranged for presenters who need them. A list of presenters requiring those permissions will need to be provided.

The revised Summit poster was distributed for members to place in their cities where permitted. Myriam also has banners, bunting, and other decorations available.

Near the end of the meeting, Trygg added Kati Evans's presentation, “From the Page to the Scene,” at 1:00 PM SLT on Saturday to the Summit schedule. Lion Euler's presentation still needs to be confirmed.

The group will continue filling the remaining presentation slots, with Trygg, Myriam, Kar, Astary, and possibly El among those who may help complete the program.

Decisions

• The Summit will not open with an Initiate blessing this year.
• The closing event will likely include short performances followed by a dance troupe, potentially combined with an IC banquet.
• The closing festivities should not extend much beyond two hours.
• SCoG members will receive access to Thunder Mountain for the September 16 meeting and Summit weekend.

Scribe Summit

The upcoming SCoG Scribe Summit will take place September 25–27, 2026, at Thunder Mountain*.

Trygg requested that the presentation schedule be completed by September 2 so the event can be promoted for approximately three weeks before the summit.

Numerous presentation slots remain available. Members were encouraged to volunteer personally and recruit knowledgeable presenters from their respective cities.

Presentation Guidelines

Presentations should generally relate to the work of the Scribes’ Caste, scholarship, education, or associated areas of Gorean knowledge.

• Presentations should typically last one ahn, or approximately one hour.
• Broader subjects may be given two ahns, or approximately two hours.
• Longer presentations may be divided into two separate sessions.
• Presenters should submit their preferred topics and availability to Trygg.
• Necessary arrangements, including equipment and rezzing permissions, can be discussed with the organizers.
• Presenters are asked to provide their presentation to the organizers in the unlikely event that the presenter can't attend at the last minute so the presentation can be made. We will return and delete the presentation afterward. Your work product will be safeguarded and credit will be given.

A list of previously presented subjects was distributed for inspiration, but members were advised that it should not limit their ideas.

Participation and Cooperation

Myriam emphasized that the summit is intended to bring together Scribes and scholars from across Gor, regardless of individual city allegiances or personal disagreements.

She encouraged participants to put aside disputes and focus on the sharing of knowledge and the interests of the Blue Caste.

Organizers stated that certain existing bans would be lifted for the three days of the summit to make broader participation possible.

Myriam specifically encouraged Lady Kati, Wynna, and Marcus to consider presenting material from their existing teaching notes.

Proposed Presentation by Hermes

Hermes proposed a presentation concerning Gorean botanical and geographical research, with possible discussion of:

• Regional plant growth.
• Sa-Tarna, rep, ka-la-na, grapes, and other trade crops.
• Medicinal and culinary herbs.
• Lumber trees and regional resources.
• Animal habitats.
• Food safety, including concerns about fish in tropical waters.
• The relevance of these subjects to scholars, merchants, physicians, and city builders.

Trygg and Myriam both expressed support for the proposal.

Hermes indicated that he could present in two one-hour sessions and was generally available for start times between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. (SL time).

He also announced that his current Gorean botany course is expected to conclude on September 7, with a zoology course beginning the following week.

Come one! Come all! The Scribe Caste of Gor* group will be hosting a Scribe Summit on SEPTEMBER 25-27, 2026 at Thunder Mountain.

We are actively seeking qualified Scribes to present classes, seminars or discussions on various scribing topics. All are welcome to present. Please use the form indicated to schedule your presentation.

As some of you here present know, because you attended some lessons, I'm currently giving a course on Gorean botany, now in its 15th week, with an enthusiastic audience. I will terminate this course on September 7 and start the following one about Gorean zoology the week after.

[8:47 AM] Hermes (prinzensaft): It concerns questions like what grows where, what can be produced where for export, like Sa-Tarna or Rep, Ka-la-na or grapes, healing and kitchen herbs, lumber trees and so on, but also which animals live where, and which products are safe for human use.

[8:47 AM] Hermes (prinzensaft): In the tropical waters, for example, fish are often poisonous, which is why we around the Schendi cannot use Thassa fish for consumption - a matter that might also be of importance for a city like Teletus which is as close to the equator as Isfahan.

# **The Besnit Symposium of Scribes**

### *September 11–13, 2026*

The City of Besnit proudly invites the Scribes of Gor to gather for three days of scholarship, discussion, and fellowship at the Besnit Symposium of Scribes.

This symposium is dedicated to the pursuit and sharing of knowledge, bringing together Scribes from cities across Gor to exchange ideas, discuss the traditions and responsibilities of the Scribe Caste, and strengthen the bonds that unite those who preserve the written word.

While the symposium is centered upon the Scribe Caste, all are welcome to attend. Warriors, Merchants, Builders, Physicians, Initiates, Administrators, and citizens alike will find value in the wisdom and experience shared throughout the event.

Throughout the three-day symposium, distinguished Scribes will present lectures and discussions on topics including:

## ⚖️ Featured Event: Mock Trial

A highlight of the symposium will be a live **Mock Trial**, demonstrating the Gorean judicial process from investigation through judgment. Guests will witness the duties of Scribes, Magistrates, advocates, witnesses, and citizens as a fictional legal case unfolds before the assembly.

Whether you are new to Gorean roleplay or an experienced participant, this presentation promises to be both educational and entertaining.

So Marcus of Thunder Mountain has graciously offered his city as a venue, so we will be convening on September 25, 26 and 27 at Thunder Mountain for the summit."

The City of Besnit proudly invites the Scribes of Gor to gather for three days of scholarship, discussion, and fellowship at the Besnit Symposium of Scribes.

This symposium is dedicated to the pursuit and sharing of knowledge, bringing together Scribes from cities across Gor to exchange ideas, discuss the traditions and responsibilities of the Scribe Caste, and strengthen the bonds that unite those who preserve the written word.

While the symposium is centered upon the Scribe Caste, all are welcome to attend. Warriors, Merchants, Builders, Physicians, Initiates, Administrators, and citizens alike will find value in the wisdom and experience shared throughout the event.

## 📖 Symposium Presentations

Throughout the three-day symposium, distinguished Scribes will present lectures and discussions on topics including:

* Gorean law and legal traditions

* History and culture

* Administration and governance

* Record keeping and archives

* Education and mentorship

* Research and scholarship

* Other subjects chosen by our guest speakers

Attendees will have opportunities to ask questions, engage in thoughtful discussion, and exchange ideas with Scribes from across the Gorean world.

## ⚖️ Featured Event: Mock Trial

A highlight of the symposium will be a live **Mock Trial**, demonstrating the Gorean judicial process from investigation through judgment. Guests will witness the duties of Scribes, Magistrates, advocates, witnesses, and citizens as a fictional legal case unfolds before the assembly.

Whether you are new to Gorean roleplay or an experienced participant, this presentation promises to be both educational and entertaining.
