In Ancient Greek and Roman societies, there are many early examples of purple being associated with justice and the legal system. Roman magistrates would wear specifically demarcated purple-striped togas to denote their prominence and authority. It is important for you to keep a good relationship with them, even if you occasionally have a difference of opinion. I think it’s time we open that conversation.

It’s also worth distinguishing between caste codes and profession-specific codes. As Scribes, we hold a common identity, but our roles vary—Cartographers, Historians, Magistrates, Record Keepers, and more. We are Scribes first, then practitioners of our chosen specialties.

And let’s not forget the Free Women who choose not to engage in caste work. That’s a valid choice, and it doesn’t make them any less part of the caste—they’re simply non-practicing Scribes. As for those who walk the line between order and mischief? They add flavor to the mix and keep things lively!”
